Grapevine Gathering Victoria 2022 has been canceled

The October 2022 edition of the Grapvine Gathering Victoria has been cancelled, organizers announced on social media over the weekend.

In an Instagram post on Saturday, October 8, organizers of the Grapevine Gathering VIC blamed the ongoing effects of the extreme weather event known as La Niña as the cause for the cancellation of its event in Rotherford, Victoria. . “Not the kind of ‘payment’ we had in mind,” the post read.

“Overnight we experienced even more rain and as a result we, along with authorities, have determined the Grapevine Gathering VIC to be unsafe.”

The post explained that while the festival’s main arena was not weathered, the roads leading to the festival site were submerged under water. “We are unable to safely bring cars or buses into and out of the event,” the post explained.

The post also explained how the site’s evacuation points were also under water, making it dangerous for anyone to evacuate in an emergency.

The post concluded, “Rest assured, we’ll be back on the vine in no time and the 2023 Grapevine VIC will be our best yet.”

With artists like The Kooks, Peking Duk, Ball Park Music and The Veronicas, among others, scheduled to perform, iterations of the festival in Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia are still planned at the time of the writing. Details on these dates and locations are available here.

Last month, Strawberry Fields Festival announced the cancellation of its second event of the year due to the continued effects of La Niña and flooding on the Murray River – directly adjacent to the festival site.

August’s Output Weekender was also canceled due to extreme weather conditions, while July saw Splendor In The Grass cancel performances on the main stage on the first day of the three-day festival after heavy rain caused flooding on the website.
