Netflix cancels Pretty Smart after one season

Well it was Smart enough and quite short, all things considered. Netflix officially axed the comedy series after just one season, according to a report by TVLine.

Smart enough originally premiered on Netflix on October 8 last year. The series followed Chelsea – played by Emilie Osment of Hannah Montana fame – a recent Harvard graduate and aspiring novelist who finds herself unlucky and forced to move in with her free-spirited sister Claire (Olivia Maclin) and his hodgepodge of roommates.

In unfortunate Netflix fashion, the first (and final) season ended on a cliffhanger, with Chelsea and Claire’s ex Grant preparing to let Claire know of their blossoming romance. Meanwhile, Claire dumped her boyfriend in an attempt to rekindle her relationship with Grant. Alas, we will never know how this family affair would have unfolded. However, the power of imagination is endless, so fans of the series can find a solution to this acute love triangle that fits their fantasy.

The news comes after Osment was promoted to a series regular for season 6 of the CBS series. Young Sheldon. Osment joined the series in its fifth season playing Mandy McAllister, a woman in her late twenties who discovers she is pregnant with the baby of Sheldon’s older brother, Georgie. Besides the usual drama of an unplanned pregnancy, Mandy then has to deal with the fact that Georgie lied to her about her age which, by the way, is seventeen.

Although the news of Smart enoughThe cancellation of followed shortly after the announcement of Osment’s promotion to series regular on Young Sheldonthere is no indication that the two stories are linked. Smart enough was created by Jack Dolgen and Doug Mand. They are also executive producers alongside Kourtney Kang, Jim Brandon, Brian Singletonand Pamela Fryman.

When it was released last year, Smart enough received mixed reviews from critics. However, since the show only had one season under its belt, it’s impossible to say how the show would have fared.

Pretty Smart season 1 is still available to stream on Netflix and you can catch Osment on Young Sheldon.
