Rosalie Maggio, La Crescenta, Calif., Died on September 18, 2021 after a heroic battle with pancreatic cancer. Arrangements are made with Solace Cremation and Funeral Home, Los Angeles, California. Services will take place at a later date.

Born November 8, 1943 in Victoria, Texas, to Irene Cecilia Nash Maggio and Paul Joseph Maggio, DDS, she was the oldest of eight siblings who grew up in Fort Dodge, Iowa. She graduated from St. Edmond High School in 1961. She majored in French at the University of Sainte-Catherine and traveled to France often throughout her life.

She and her husband David C. Koskenmaki, a researcher and holder of numerous patents, were the parents of Liz Koskenmaki (Anthony Thompson), Katie Koskenmaki (Jason Middleton) and Matt Koskenmaki (Nora Terry Koskenmaki), and the grandparents of Zoe and Evy Koskenmaki. and Margot Middleton.

Award-winning author of 24 books and hundreds of articles, she “resurrected” the long-forgotten French daredevil, athlete and pilot Marie Marvingt. She is the author of a biography in French and subsequently of a version in English. These were followed by an award-winning 3-part series in Cricket magazine. “How can I say” was a 3 million copy bestseller. Rosalie’s books on biased language were considered landmark works. She has also been at the forefront of collecting and popularizing women’s quotes with eight published quotes books. She particularly enjoyed writing for children, with stories in Highlights for Children, Jack and Jill, Cricket, Spider and others. Although she had many favorite quotes from women, the one she tried to live with was attributed to Thucydides. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, her children, son-in-law, daughter-in-law and grandchildren, as well as siblings Frank Maggio (Mary Claire), Patrick Maggio (Cynthia), Kevin Maggio, Mary Maggio (Mike Pliner), Paul Maggio, DDS (Terry), Dr Mark Maggio and Matt Maggio, DDS (Laura).
