Telugu writer Mercy Margaret invited to participate in Sahitya Akademi International Literature Festival in Shimla | Hyderabad News

HYDERABAD: Laureate Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar and Telugu novelist Mercy Margaret from Hyderabad have been invited to attend India’s largest international literature festival to be held in Shimla from June 16-18.
“Unmesha”, a festival of expression, is organized by the Ministry of Culture, the Government of India and Sahitya Akademi on the occasion of 75 years of independence. More than 450 writers will participate in the 50 events that are organized.
Mercy Margaret said she had received the invitation to participate in a panel discussion on “Why I Write” with writers from various other languages. “I feel privileged and proud to participate in this historic event,” said the Telugu writer, thanking the Central Sahitya Akademi for the invitation extended to him.
It can be mentioned here that author and poet Mercy Margaret won the 2017 Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar for her work titled “Maatala Madugu”.
Sahitya Akademi Secretary K Sreenivasarao said distinguished writers, poets, critics, scholars and artists will take part in the festival in symposia, discussions, literary readings, lectures and give folk performances.
“People write for different reasons. For some it is a process of catharsis, for some it is a journey of self-discovery and for others it is a process of sharing with other human beings how other thoughts shaped his inner world,” Sreenivasarao said, inviting Mercy Margaret to share. thoughts for 8-10 minutes at the festival.
